Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley
The 3rd edition of the premier program for future European startup unicorns ready to welcome 15 companies from 9 countries

SAN FRANCISCO, August 31st, 2017 – For the third consecutive year, Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley (SEC2SV) is ready to welcome a selection of the best European Tech Scaleups for a week of local presentations and meetings, including European Innovation Day at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View on September 20th.
Organized by Mind the Bridge and EIT Digital with the support of the European Commission and European Parliament, SEC2SV embodies today the premier program for future European unicorns to engage with main US industry players for business, funding and collaboration opportunities in order to rapidly scale up on the other side of the Atlantic.
With total revenue of over $60M and 800 employees these 15 promising selected tech companies come from Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK, and cover verticals such as Mobile Advertising, Digital Marketing, Marketing Technology, Fintech, Education, Wearables/IoT, Big Data Analytics, Energy, Health, Security, Wireless, TV-Multimedia, System Management.
To be considered for the SEC2SV delegation, companies needed to demonstrate significant growth in revenue and/or number of employees during the last 3 years and to be ready for expansion into the US market. The average annual revenue for the selected companies is $4M+ and the average number of employees is 50+.
The selected scaleups will spend an entire week (18-22 September) in Silicon Valley alongside a delegation of visiting officials from the European Commission, European Parliament, European Committee of the Regions, EU member state representatives including 3 Secretaries of State, investors and senior executives of established corporations.
Each company will present their business at the SEC2SV European Innovation Day Conference (#SEC2SV) to an international audience of over 500 attendees at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

App-Ray (CEO Zsolt Nemeth) – Austria
App-Ray is a provider of automated Android application security scanning. App-Ray provides fully automated security analysis of mobile applications to find security issues, privacy breaches and data leaking potentials. It augments existing mobile security solutions to classify and provide deep insights on application behavior.
Beintoo (CEO Andrea Campana) – Italy
Beintoo is a mobile data company offering behavioural analysis and data driven campaign based on geo-location information. Their technology allows clients to measure engagement and drive-to-store conversion of their mobile campaigns.
BitBar (CEO Marko Kaasila) – Finland
Bitbar automates mobile building, testing, monitoring and deployment processes for enterprises. They help customers deliver more with less people by providing lightning fast mobile DevOps environments in a preconfigured private, public or on-premise cloud service.
Buzzoole (CEO Fabrizio Perrone) – Italy
Buzzoole is an end-to-end Influencer Marketing platform that allows brands to integrate key influencers into their digital communications in a fully automated way. Buzzoole automates the search, reward and evaluation system that brands use to find Influencers, making it an effective marketing option with measurable ROI driven results.
Five Degrees (CEO Martijn Hohmann) – Netherlands
Five Degrees provides core banking technology with their online digital banking platform. They automate banking processes such as client onboarding of a retail banking customer and support banking products such as savings accounts and consumer loans.
Ignilife (CEO Fabrice Pakin) – France
Ignilife creates a unique digital platform to empower people to be active in managing their own health and wellness. It utilizes a customizable platform that leverages gamification and social interaction to encourage positive behavior.
OnePulse (CEO Atul Choudrie) – UK
OnePulse is self-service platform that allows businesses to ask targeted groups of people questions in the form of micro-surveys (pulses) and get answers within seconds. OnePulse provides critical insights on relevant segments of the population to enterprises.
Primo (CEO Filippo Yacob) – UK
Primo Toys is the maker of Cubetto, a friendly wooden robot that teaches children the basics of computer programming through adventure and hands-on play without the need for a screen. Cubetto is the most crowdfunded educational technology invention in Kickstarter’s history, raising $1.6m from backers in 96 countries.
ProGlove (CEO Thomas Kirchner) – Germany
ProGlove is a smart glove that enhances the most important tool of professionals: their hands. Enabling manufacturing and logistics staff to work faster, safer and easier, ProGlove provides a suite of connected capabilities to every user with their wearable smart glove.
Redborder: ENEO Tecnologia S.L. (CEO Jesus de la Maza) – Spain
Redborder cybersecurity is an all in one platform for businesses and enterprises. It is capable of performing in a multitude of environments beyond just cybersecurity, with real time venue monitoring, network traffic analysis, and big data analytics all included in the package.
Semarchy (CEO Salah Kamel) – France
Semarchy provides a platform for multi-vector Master Data Management (MDM) that leverages smart algorithms and material design to simplify data stewardship, governance and integration. It is implemented via an agile and iterative approach that scales to meet enterprise complexity.
Sunamp (CEO Andrew Bissell) – UK
Sunamp designs, produces and sells innovative, patented, highly efficient and super compact Heat Batteries that can be used to store heat for a number of applications including many renewable and low carbon technologies.
Swap (CEO Juha Koponen) – Finland
Swap.com is an online consignment and thrift store for women, men and kids. Challenging the common perception of shopping secondhand, Swap.com offers a wide variety of styles and brands promoting high quality and fast shipping for sellers and buyers.
Wirepas Oy (CEO Teppo Hemiä) – Finland
Wirepas Connectivity is a de-centralized radio communications protocol for large-scale IoT applications. Their software allows for IoT data to be transmitted from any connected devices using radio chips on any radio band.
Sentiance (President Dimitri Maex) – Belgium
Sentiance is a data science company turning IOT sensor data into insights about people’s behavior with real-time context. These insights enable companies to understand how customers go through their everyday lives, to discover and anticipate key moments, and adapt customer engagement to real life behavior. Sentiance context intelligence enables solutions for a multitude of industries including insurance and automotive.
